An NMR letter opposing the zoning variances requested by Interfaith Housing Development Corporation for the redevelopment of the Comcast building was sent to the Village President and Trustees on May 7, 2011.

The basis of the letter was the survey taken in September 2010 and the testimony before the Plan Commission on January 20, 2011.

Our Organization

We are a group of neighbors and members of the Oak Park community who care passionately about our community and are committed to ensuring that all perspectives are represented and that the community benefits from developments along the Madison Street Corridor.

Our Mission

Our mission is to safeguard the best interests of the local community and, in particular, to ensure that:

• The Madison Street Corridor Master Plan is applied consistently
• The Board of Trustees identify and require compensating benefits proportionate to the zoning variances requested by developers.
• Business viability is realistically and fully assessed for all mixed-use developments along the Madison Street Corridor.
• The effect of any development on traffic and parking along Madison Street and the residential side streets is considered and addressed.
• Any proposed project's impact on the look and character of the Madison Street Corridor be considered within the context of other developments, both current and future, along the Madison Street Corridor.
• Development should improve rather than erode the quality and character of our community.
• The safety of our children, pets, and pedestrians on our streets be maintained.
• The community impact of any project's height and density are considered and addressed.
