Walgreens Proposal
Many of you have expressed concern and dismay over a Walgreens' proposal for 801-815 Madison (Sear's Pharmacy, adjacent buildings and Comcast lot). What we know so far:
- The developer proposing this, Jay Javors, has presented to the Madison Street Coalition twice and an ad hoc committee once.
- The properties still belong to Alex Troyanovsky and Comcast.
- There has been no formal proposal to the Village at this point.
Mr. Javors has followed the the path established by Village Trustees as part of the implementation of the Madison Street Corridor Master Plan by going to the Madison Street Coalition first, seeking input from them. He is not required to follow their suggestions but will have a more difficult time getting approval for his proposal without their endorsement. The Neighbors for Madison Renewal are members of the Madison Street Coalition.
Below is the letter we sent to the Coalition committee today, stating our position.
